Who are we

boqt 1.jpg

My first experience of working with composite materials goes all the way back to 1990 when I started worked as a laminator and trainee marine engineer for Colvic Crafts in Essex.  Colvic Crafts was founded in 1964 by childhood friends Colin Burns and Victor Pascoe. They were one of the earliest and most prolific builders of fibreglass power and sailing yachts in Britain.  The crafts we constructed were sold to market as Sunquest yachts and power boats and ranged from 32' to 55'.

I left this industry after a few years and worked in the events sector, eventually becoming the Managing Director of Piggotts, a company founded in 1780.  We had an enviable client list including The Royal Household, Parliamentary Estates Division, The Crown Estate, Harrods and many other prestigious organisations, government departments and individuals.  Piggotts was probably best known for making and installing London’s West End Christmas Lights in Regent Street, Oxford Street and Bond Street. Piggotts were also providers of marquee structures, flags, banners and windsocks. https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-20315353

We decided to quit our hectic lives and spend more time together as a family and we moved to France February 2015.  We bought a gite complex and restaurant in the Charente. Our 12m x 10m mosaic tiled pool was showing its age with patches of tiles missing and severe leak problems, it had to be renovated.  Disillusioned by the advice offered by ‘professionals’ I became obsessive about pools and undertook a 10 month renovation of the terracing and replacing all of the fittings, pipe work, pumps and filters.  I installed a full fibreglass lining using my experience of making marine craft, with a mosaic waterline border and dolphin motifs. From this I became busy helping other people with their own pools from understanding the basics of running a pool through to full renovations.

And so Fibreglass Pool Linings was created.  My aim from the beginning has been to deliver a great product and service, honest advice at the best possible price, never the cheapest, never the most expensive, but always the best value.  To enable pool owners to have the confidence to manage their pools effectively, understand how things work and what to do when things go awry.  I am passionate about pools and strive to make them something to be enjoyed, for owners to spend their time in them and not working on them.

Now based in the centre of the Var dept I cover the whole of the Provence Alps Cote D’Azur region and beyond.  So, whatever your pool related project, be it minor repairs and niggles through to full renovations, please get in touch to see how we can help.
